CHELSEA VS NEWCASTLE 3-1 | FULL HIGHLIGHTS PREMIERE LEAGUE 2017

Chelsea came from a goal down to comfortably beat Newcastle United 3-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Magpies took the lead on 12 minutes when Dwight Gayle converted the rebound following Jacob Murphy’s close-range effort that was saved by Thibaut Courtois.

However, that lead only lasted eight minutes as Florian Lejeune on the stretch could only clear a cross to the feet of Eden Hazard, who drove his shot past Karl Darlow.

And it was 2-1 to the Blues just after the hour mark when Victor Moses’ driven cross was headed into the net by Alvaro Morata.

Chelsea then wrapped up the points 16 minutes from time when Moses was felled in the area and Hazard converted the penalty with a cheeky attempt.

Thibaut Courtois

Maybe would have been a bit disappointed with the opening Newcastle goal, being a little slow off his line. A few times as well under pressure with the ball at his feet, but managed to deal with it, just about. 5

Cesar Azpilicueta

Maybe not his most composed performance in recent weeks but still pretty confident. Was out of position the odd time in the first half, but then looked much better in the second period of the match. 6

Andreas Christensen

Was a bit unlucky for the opening goal as the ball seemed to come off Dwight Gayle’s hand. After that though the performance was similar to how he has been all season and got a few minutes rest at the end ahead of Tuesday. 7

Antonio Rudiger

Looked very solid on the left of the three in place of Gary Cahill, nothing like when he played there against Roma. Good recovery speed and played a couple of nice balls through as well. A decent performance. 7

Victor Moses

Didn’t show any effects of the injury that had kept him out for so long and really was excellent on the right, especially in the second half where he won the penalty as well. Excellent return. 8

N’Golo Kante

Sitting in front of the back three is just the perfect role for him when he doesn’t need to really provide the creativity. Put under a lot of pressure in the opening 20 minutes or so, but then managed to take control of the game and do what he does best, winning the ball and breaking up play. 8

Danny Drinkwater

Out of the three midfielders, probably the quietest. However, did try to break the lines at times and get beyond the forwards. A bit sloppy on the ball at times. 6

Cesc Fabregas

Struggled in the early running of the game as Chelsea were put under real pressure by the Newcastle midfield, but as the game opened up he was able to exploit the space with his passing. 7

Marcos Alonso

Probably the most disappointing on the left as he never really got into the game that much and struggled to make an impact. You feel that he needs a bit of a rest and Kenedy could get a chance on Tuesday night. 4

Eden Hazard

Was watched pretty closely in the first half, but still managed to get his goal. Then in the second half was really when he came alive to earn Chelsea the win. Just electric at times, shaking off the kicks and the bit of a battering he got. Another wonderful display. 9

Alvaro Morata

Went down a little easily at times, but on the whole his link up play was decent. Feel he still needs to add that strength, but his header was a sign of his instinctive finishing and positoning. 7

Didn’t do too much to affect the game. 5

Gary Cahill

Came on to give Christensen a rest and saw out the game. 5
